Tickets

Styrsöbolaget is part of the public transport in Gothenburg and you can use the same ticket when travelling by bus, tram or boat. Västtrafik is the public transport authority in Gothenburg and publishes the fares.

There are different types of tickets. One-way tickets are sold onboard or in the ticket office at Saltholmen. There is also a discount card, called Maxidiscount 100 card (“Maxirabatt” in Swedish). The adult fare is two coupons and you validate the card onboard the boat (or bus/tram) in the ticket machine. Several people can travel on the same discount card by validating two coupons for each person. If you have started the journey on the bus or tram you still have to validate the card by pressing “byte” (change) on the ticket machine onboard.

The coupons are valid for 90 minutes which means that you have time to go on a short trip and then go back on the same ticket. It is important to remember to press “byte” for the return trip.

Baggage

Passengers are allowed to carry bags and personal belongings to a maximum of 30 kg, free of charge. Baggage exceeding 30 kg is subject to a fee which is paid onboard to the staff.

Dangerous goods

Passengers are not allowed to carry any dangerous goods on the passenger boats.

Bicycles

Bicycles are accepted if space available. Bicycles must not be placed in the yellow marked area on the front deck which must be kept clear in case of emergency. One-way ticket is 10 SEK, on the boats to the archipelago, which is paid onboard to the crew. Bicycles are free of charge in the Göta Älv traffic (Älvsnabben).

The ticket office of Styrsöbolaget at Saltholmen is open Monday-Friday 09.00-12.30 and 13.15-18.20, Saturday and Sunday 09.15-15.40.
